Once Again

In case anyone missed the message, I have moved to a completely different tumblr account. If you want the new url, simply ask for it. I will be more than happy to give it to you. Also, if I followed you, I have followed you again on my new account, so you can check your new followers and easily find me that way.

PEACE OUT!

On Second Thought

I just created a whole new account. If the creeper mom is following me, me changing my name won’t do anything. She’ll still see my posts. Blocking her won’t do anything, either. So, yeah. Whole new account created.

If you want the new url, ask for it.

Name Change

Again. Sorry, people.

I have a feeling a certain madre has the link to my blog saved and has been checking up on it so that she can stalk her daughter. She was definitely creeping on my twitter, and my twitter had the link to my tumblr on it, so I’m going to guess she’s been creeping on here, too.

So I’ve changed my name to this old old username. I actually kind of liked my previous name, but I used it on my other blog that I never ever use, so if I want to go back to it, it’s reserved, and I can.

For now, this is my name, though. Weeeee.

Since I’m just not going to use my real name for a while on Tumblr, if you have any cool username ideas, go ahead and send them my way. Jade - you can finally be creative. :-D

This is the kind of stuff that makes me all kinds of happy. Imagine if every car on the road is a node sending out status “tweets” 10 times a second to all cars in the vicinity allowing all cars to be aware of each other. These are the kinds of things that will save nearly 40,000 lives a year. This is health.

Ford, today, showed off a new set of technologies that will enable cars to talk to each other, helping to reduce crashes and maybe help with other things, like help with fuel economy. Here Michael Shulman, technical leader in Ford’s Active Safety Research and Innovation gives us a demo of the tech.

This is really really cool!

Oh Yeah!

Along with the job update, I almost forgot about one thing:

Jim strung my racket…for FREE! That was very nice of him, and a wonderful surprise. So, now I have my favorite racket back. It’s in tip-top shape and ready to be played with. Alls I need is a tennis partner. Because the wall is no fun to play against.

Misconceptions about EDs, Part II

eatingdisordersupport:

Hello all! I really liked Lauren’s post about misconceptions about EDs, so I wanted to take it and run with it. Here are some other misconceptions and the reasons behind why they are not true.

Job Update

Because I know my friends are curious and instead of telling each of them what’s going on, I can tell you all here, since you all have a Tumblr now.

I met with Jim for an “interview” today. It wasn’t really an interview. He went through all the questions that he is required to ask and was pretty much like “Oh, I know the answer to that. You are good with that. I know your personality, so I know you can handle that. I know you work well with the kids. I know you can do that and this and that.”

So I didn’t really have to answer any questions, except things like ‘would you be willing to work weekends and nights, would you be willing to learn this, when are your classes’ - things like that.

He said he was going to drop my application thing off at personnel and tell them that I was the one he wanted for the job, but it’s not completely up to him. If it was, I’d have the job all ready, since he knows I get along with everyone who works there all ready, and since I’ve been going there since I was a little kid, and since he knows and trusts me. The city has to want to hire me too, though. I think I have to pass a drug test, which won’t be a problem, and a background check, which also won’t be a problem. And they wanted my last boss, Mr. Vickers, to email them a short reference, and I called Mr. Vickers today, and he said he would be happy to do that, so that’s settled.

If I get this job, I would be working in the office, and as a tennis coach. It’s 15-18 hours a week, sometimes more, sometimes less, plus any lessons I schedule for on my own time. When I teach things like the summer clinics, he said I would get my hourly wage, which is 7.25, plus the $15.00 that he’s been paying me to teach those. So that’s $22.00 an hour. Then the rest of the time, I just get paid minimum wage. BUT, he said that, though it might take a while to get me a clientele, I would also be teaching private lessons, and that’s $12 for half an hour, and $24 for a full hour. So it’s pretty good money. AND he said if I needed days off, that it wouldn’t be too big a deal to get them.

So yeah. Things look promising. He wants me for the job. I just hope the city does, too.

Ilsa Update

Ilsa is in a bad state, guys.

The problem is that she is overheating, and the computer automatically shuts down when it reaches a certain temperature. It’s a safety feature, to protect the parts inside the computer. We don’t know why exactly it is overheating, but it could be that the paste which separates the processor from the rest of the computer is diluted and needs to be replaced. On most laptops, this wouldn’t be a problem, but Ilsa is very complicated. Her processor is located deep in her core, and in order for the paste to be replaced, the entire computer needs to be taken apart.

Taking the computer apart is not the problem. It’s putting her back together that is worrying us.

So, for now, she is running at half speed, to keep her from overheating and shutting off. The computer works well enough, as long as all I’m doing is surfing the web, but watching videos is near impossible, and running skype is quite taxing. She’s a trooper, though. She’s chugging along.

She can’t do this forever, though. Or rather, I can’t deal with this forever. I need my computer to be able to multi-task. And the paste will keep getting thinner and thinner, so I’m pretty sure that, eventually, keeping her running at half-speed won’t keep her on. I don’t want to always be worried that my computer is going to suddenly shut down while I’m in the middle of doing something. That’s not a good thing, not when I use her to take notes for classes and to write my papers and stuff. Plus, her shutting down in the middle of doing tasks is really annoying.

So, the plan is to buy a new laptop. Once I have one picked out, we will take Ilsa apart and try to salvage her. If we are able to successfully put her back together again, then I save my money and don’t buy a new computer. If we can’t figure out how to reconstruct her, or the paste wasn’t actually the problem, then it’s no big deal, because I already had the money for a new laptop. And since the hard-drive is fine on my old laptop, I can take that out and use it as an external hard-drive to back up my files.

Ah, Ilsa. Hang in there, girl. You’ll only be sick for a while longer. After that, you’ll be healed, or you’ll be dead. Either way, you won’t be miserable much longer. So hang in there. Tough it out.

Phone Number

I needed my aunt’s phone number, to call and thank her for the graduation gift that she got me, so I asked my mom for it last night.

The number she gave me was 904-xxxx . I told her that the number was missing the first 3 digits. And she was all like ‘no, it’s right. I’ve called it before. That’s right. It’s a cell phone.’ And I was like ‘But that’s the area code’ and she was like ‘no, it’s 904-904-xxxx.’ And I was like ‘…okay. If you say so.’

So I called the number today and…SURPRISE SURPRISE. It didn’t work.

When I asked my mom for the number again, she called my other aunt, and guess what? She was missing the first three numbers! Just like I said.

Also, I’m pretty sure the number she gave me was not a cell phone number, even though that’s what she told me it was. 247 usually belongs to a home address.

Oh, silly silly mom. :-p

EDIT: Called the number. Definitely a house number. I know technology has changed a lot since my mom was a kid, but telephone numbers should be easy for her to understand! She’s grown up with them. My mom is too funny.

Lazy Sunday, Broken Car, and Karaoke [23/52] (by flippinawesome52)

Nothing too exciting happened this week. The car breaking down was a bit annoying, but also an adventure of sorts! And my trip to Tally was absolutely amazing!

117 points!!! Take that Sarah! I think that’s a new record for me.
